Well, and easy way to change your whole design without actually having to do it yourself is by finding diary templates. People on Diaryland do this, and you just have to link back to them. The site I got my design from (because I am in no way clever enough to figure out the HTML thing, either) was really easy. I found the one I wanted, filled in my info, and then cut and pasted it into "change my template". It was SO easy, I don't know why I never did it before. Of course, you run the possibility of someone else having the same template, but there are like fifteen million diaries here, so...that would be my choice. And the link thing, once you get it down, is not that hard. (Now I'm wondering that if I try to demonstrate it here if it will work...) I'll try. If this totally screws up, sorry. To put a link in your diary, you would put the following code:

here is where you would type the text you want to describe that link
and that's it.

Good luck with your page. I know almost nothing about html, so I just change my template now and then. I totally understand your frustration about having your shoes chewed up. One of my puppies just chewed the heel off a pair of my shoes (the newest pair I have, of course). I nearly cried. Luckily, I think it can be repaired, but I was so angry! Finding a torn-up shoe wasn't as bad as when I came home a couple of years ago to discover that Shamus (RIP) had destroyed all of my coworkers' Christmas gifts. Sigh. And he was a grown dog, too - not a puppy! He had no excuse.
